Control order detainee Mahmoud Abu Rideh has been prohibited for having any contact with former Guantanamo detainee, Moazzam Begg. Begg has been acting as spokesman and outreach worker for the human rights NGO, Cageprisoners, since 2006.

Local Authority workers in Dorset struck a blow against the iniquity of poverty pay and joined colleagues around the country in two days of action. They demonstrated their anger at yet another pay cut for public sector workers at a time when inflation is rising at a rate of 4.6% and the cost of food & fuel is going through the roof. Galloway: We all have a stake in council workers' strike

Reacting to the news that members of the the largest council workers' union, Unison, have voted by 55 percent to 45 percent to strike over pay, Respect MP George Galloway said: "We in Respect fully support Unison in its battle for fair pay. It has come to something when low-paid classroom assistants, refuse workers and admin staff are having to strike, probably for two days."

Support for BBC World Service workers

George Galloway MP & Respect have given full support to workers at the BBC World Service, who are protesting against outsourcing and cutbacks. George Galloway has also tabled an Early Day Motion on the issue, as well as a Parliamentary question asking if the government approves of the BBC agreeing to pre-censorship of news content from Pakistan.

Don't miss tonight's Dispatches, on Channel 4, 8pm, which is billed as a counterblast to rampant Islamophobia. It is presented by Peter Oborne, who has also written a pamphlet on the question. Oborne is a conservative commentator, which means that his intervention against what he calls "Britain's last remaining socially acceptable form or bigotry" is therefore all the more newsworthy.

New research shows you are more likely to be killed at work than through an act of violence. "But we see no hue and cry from politicians about that," says Galloway. "In fact, the government is sitting on recommendations which would begin to address the appalling collapse of health and safety prosecutions."

Gordon Brown is leading Labour to its worst electoral defeat since the 1930s, according to a new "poll of polls" for The Independent. On current levels of support, Labour would lose almost half its MPs at the next election and David Cameron would become Prime Minister with an overwhelming majority.
